A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A RESTAURANT AND BAR MANAGER at THE MARINE HOTEL PAIGNTON

What you'll be doing...

Your role will involve leading and managing our restaurant and Bar and all it entails.

Reporting to the general manager, you can expect your working day to include the following.

  • Oversee daily operations of the restaurant and bar, including managing staff, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining quality standards.
  • Train and develop staff members in areas such as customer service, food safety, and restaurant policies.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the dining areas.
  • Handle customer complaints and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage budgets, control costs, and optimise profitability.
  • To ensure that all guests are dealt with in a professional manner in accordance with company standards.
  • Coach staff maximise sales by ensuring our team are upselling at every opportunity.
  • Create, implement, and maintain new operational procedures within the department.
  • To oversee the training and development of all restaurant and bar staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively assist guests.
  • Monitor the performance of all restaurant and bar staff, providing feedback, coaching, and support to ensure that they meet performance targets and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Supervising the restaurant and bar team members to ensure all company procedures, standards and brand values are being adhered to and delivered.
  • Carrying out absence and performance management as per company guidelines
  • Handle any conflicts or issues that arise among other employees, mediating disputes and finding solutions to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • To act as duty manager for the hotel as part of a rota system.

To succeed in the role of restuarant and bar manager, you will need the following qualities and skills.

  • Previous restaurant management experience necessary
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a team.
  • Ability to coach and train teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficient in computer software applications related to restaurant management.
  • Flexable working availability, the working pattern will include evenings and weekends
