Aldi secures record sales with food inflation breaking records

Aldi UK now says it managed to grow its sales by over £1.4billion in December, in a month in which food inflation hit 13.3 per cent.

The food retailer Aldi UK said it reported gross sales of more than £7million for the 26 weeks to the end of December.

The German supermarket recorded its best December ever, with sales of £1.4b.

Giles Hurley, CEO of Aldi UK and Eire, comment on the paper: "Because the UK's least expensive grocery store, we have been in a position to assist consumers benefit from the Christmas they deserved and supply them with the very best high quality merchandise on the most reasonably priced costs.
