Asda customers will start to move store food from self-driving vehicles tonight after the supermarket has launched an attempt on autonomous cars.

The supermarket chain has described the delivery attempt as the 'largest' in Britain.

Asda will supply food for customers as part of a year-long trial involving a self-driving car from today.

The vehicles will join Asda's existing car delivery fleet at its Park Royal store in west London.

Asda said its Park Royal customers should place deliveries online as normal and picked a delivery location that suits them.

During the trial, both an Asda colleague and Wayve's safety-guarding driver will sit in car during the delivery - providing a safety net for the technology.
