Burger King to Take Over 74 Restaurants from Karali Group
Monday, October 3, 2022
Burger King UK has bought all 74 of its franchises for the second time under its purchase of the Karali Group, underpinning its ambitions for expanding the chain from 533 to 700 premises by 2026.
Alasdair Murdoch, the chief executive of Burger King UK, said: "The acquisition of Karali – the largest consolidation Burger King UK has made – marks an important milestone for the business, bringing more restaurants under our ownership, enhancing value and driving operational efficiencies.
It marks the biggest franchising consolidation ever undertaken by Burger King UK and will add 266 of its directly-owned sites, including further sites in London, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds.
Burger King gave away free green and vegan burgers in August as part of National Burger Day, and urged customers to be 'slightly more flexible' in choosing the menu.
People working in its Karali group now join the core team at the restaurant chain.
Restaurants acquired during the transaction will now be embraced in the group's conversion and upgrade program, which the company said would deliver "an improved customer experience and new visual identity, including pre-order digital kiosks and digital menu screens"
