Chefs and Hospitality Workers to Reduce Food Waste

Thursday, May 9, 2019

As we are becoming more environmentally aware, it is clear that food waste is a serious issue, especially in the hospitality industry, which is why chefs and hospitality workers have been urged to act promptly in reducing the amount of food waste they produce over the next 12 years.

The UK is currently the 24th in the world when it comes to food waste reduction, according to the commercial director of ReFood, the food waste recycler, Philip Simpson.  He stated that every year, the average restaurant will lose £20k because of poor food waste management and is prompting hospitality managers with tips on how to avoid these issues.

The hope is to cut food wastage by 50% by 2030.
