The owners of another dilapidated castle on the doorstep of Glasgow, having transformed it into a five-star luxury hotel, have announced another grand expansion plan at a cost of £15million.

When fully operational, the hotel and venue will have the capacity for a further 35.000 visitors a year, with a predicted £1.2m economic boost for South Lanarkshire.

Upon approval, it will create up to 52 new jobs at Blantyre.

Steve and Alison Timoney, who put five years and over £10m into restoring the listed Crossbascket Castle in High Blantyre near Scotland, have asked for planning permission which would more than double their investment in the Award-winning estate.

It is hoped the two-year work could begin at the beginning of 2021, when plans for the £15 million investment will get the go-ahead.

The new 132-storey restaurant will round out the extension, as well as a bar and a stage for live entertainment.

The hotel is being extended inside Crossbasket Estate.
