Cruise ship boom: Restaurant giant BuzzWorks plans to move flagship restaurant to new Greenock visitor centre

Restaurant giants Buzzworks are bringing their flagship eatery up the Ayrshire coast to Greenock.

The all-day restaurant will be the first from the family business in Inverclyde to open for business at the new Greenock Cruise Ship Visitor Centre now being built along the banks of the River Clyde.

Buzzworks have invested heavily for seven years in designing this stunning ocean-front venue designed by Jim Hamilton and featuring a rooftop dining deck with panoramic water views and an indoor restaurant that can seat up to 150 guests.

The restaurant is open for all day and the restaurant will have 150 blankets, including a roof terrace with panoramic views through the water.

By the end of 2022 the staggering Buzzworks, which is Scotts "fourth restaurant next to Scott's of Troon and Largs, as well as the most recent Scotts, which is based in the east on the South Queensferry, on the outskirts of Edinburgh, are expected to open.

"Having been in the pipeline for over three years, this is another significant step forward in our continued growth strategy as we continue to branch out from our historical base in Ayrshire," said Buzzworks general manager Kenny Blair.

The development is believed to boost visitor numbers to 150.000 a year and provide a £150,000 million boost to Scotland's economy.

It is hoped the development will attract an extra 150.000 visitors a year to the area, which will generate an estimated £26m to the local economy.
