Customs building Glasgow: Clayton Hotel Glasgow City opens

A Grade II-listed building that has been standing on the shores of the River Clyde for more than 180 years has opened as a four-star resort.

Clayton Lodge Glasgow Metropolis on the Clyde Avenue has refurbished the historic bespoke brownstone building.

The renovated Grade II listed building acts as the entrance to the resort including a reception, common area, ballroom and function rooms.

Adjacent to the Historic Building and sometimes connected via a glazed ceiling, the Lodge also houses the Customized Home Bar & restaurants.

Already 16 floors high, the resort offers a 'hanging juxtaposition of previous and new structure', said operator and Clayton Resorts owner Dalata Resort Group.

A terrace on the seventh floor offers amusements and panoramic views of the city.
