Research has shown Britain is all about diverse tastes in their food, with Tesco being the supermarket spending the most money and Deliveroo the most popular.

However, the relative data suggests shoppers in the north-east and north-west are most likely to spend at Greggs and Burger King, while fast food aficionados in the south are more inclined to prefer Pret-A-Manger and KFC.

A spokesperson from Revolut, which has five million customers in the UK, said: 'The UK has always been a melting pot of tastes, and it is fascinating to see which establishments are drawing the most interest from customers, as well as their hard-earned cash.

The battle for supremacy of the fast food sector is akin to a race against supermarkets who see one brand as the nation's favorite: McDonald's.

Meal delivery services are the number one choice in London, eastern England, the East Midlands, the North West, southeast and southwest.

Those who like going out to eat also have conflicting opinions about a sit-down meal on the road.

In London and the East Midlands Pizza is winning, with Pizza Express and Pizza Hut both prevailing in these countries.
