Philema Hospitality Management, which owns three south west London hotels, has offered the family-owned group, which includes the Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa and The Esplanade Hotel in Cornwall, and the Boringdon Hall Hotel and Gaston Spa in Devon, a summer bonus worth almost £200.000 to keep the group afloat for the next 30 years.

Philema Hospitality Management, the family-run business that owns both the Fistral Beach Hotel and Esplanade Hotel in Newquay, Cornwall, will split the money between the company, which also operates the Boringdon Hall Hotel & Gaia Spa in Devon with 325 staff.

The bonus, amounting to a total of £182.166, was paid to employees working for the hotel group between April and September.

Laura Cameron, branch manager of Philema, commented: "We appreciate that the last few years have been difficult for the hospitality industry and with the surge in demand for staycations, our teams have had to go above and beyond to offer an exceptional service to each and every guest who visited us this summer.

Philema said the company also surprised employees with several "Employee Appreciation Days" including goodies and vouchers, which were thrown away as a thank you to team members.
