Irn Bru and Uber Eats to offer Burns Night deliveries in Glasgow

Wednesday, January 19, 2022 Irn Bru and Uber Eats to offer Burns Night deliveries in Glasgow

The other Scottish national drink Irn-Bru is trying to resurrect Burns Night for homes in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

In an attempt to keep the festivities alive, Irn-Bru has launched Burns By Bru, the favourite drink for every third (39 per cent) of young Scots on Burns Night.

The pop-up is delivering dinners to households across Edinburgh and Glasgow from Friday 21 to Monday 25 January.

The launch follows a recent survey of how Scots celebrate Burns Night by ScotPulse that found that while one in two Scots (55%) would associate Burns Night not to be Scottish, nearly half (49%) of younger millennials do not celebrate the National Bard itself.

The menu features haggis nuggets with spiced Irn-Bru chutney, fried nettles and tatties and a mac "n" cheese pie with a bacon crumble glazed over.

Harvey Nichols isn't trying to reinvent the wheel by adding its traditional Burns menu, which will go on sale January 24 and 29.

Irn-Bru is returning full price for each £5 meal to foodbanks in Glasgow and Edinburgh to Scots who may have to forego that Burns Night.

Adrian Troy, marketing director at AG Barr (UberEats), said: "As a brand that's so proud of our Scottish roots, it was a no-brainer to unite with UberEats to make sure that future generations continue to celebrate a day that's become synonymous with celebrating being Scottish.
