June sales in managing pubs and restaurants

Monday, July 19, 2021

The Coffer CGA Business Tracker produced by CGA, in partnership with The Coffer Group and RSM, showed pubs seeing a fall of about 2% during that time time, with mixed weather and restrictions acting as counterbalancing any pushback from the UEFA Euro tournament.

In the bars, where social distancing and the premature closure of pubs continues to negatively affect the footprint, sales fell by 11%.

This was a marked improvement on May trade, when sales fell 26 per cent year-on-year in 2019.

Regional locations were performing better, selling off the M25 by 4% in June, but up 11% within the M25.

The tracker also confirmed the sustained impact of the pandemic on the hospitality sector with group revenues down 27% compared with the previous 12 months to June 2021.

In addition, around 9.000 fewer permits were enforced than a year ago.

The June figures signalled the continued attraction of restaurants, pubs and bars and the resilience of the businesses they support, said the CGA.
