Former McDonald's chief executive Steve Easterbrook has bought into a purely vegetable-based cuisine club, according to Propel.

Hospitality news site Propel revealed that Steve Easterbrook, who left McDonald's in November 2019, has been linked to Britain's Clean Kitchen Club, a herbal fast food start-up.

The Clean Kitchen Club, operated by YouTuber Michael Pearce and reality star Verity Bowditch, has previously been rated at £12 million.

The former boss of McDonald's has backed a vegan rival after he was reportedly fired from the fast food giant over his dealings with staff.

Pearce told London's Independent in March: 'We want to be the plant-based McDonald's.'

Easterbrook was credited with reviving McDonald's after he was named global chief executive in 2015, when sales plunged.

Easterbrook, which has introduced more technology such as touchscreens, has driven a wave of cost-minimisation measures.

One employee said he and his friends were known for visiting Viagra Triangle, a suburb in Chicago that has many bars where wealthy older men meet younger women.
