Michelin announces 20 new Bib Gourmand spots for 2023 in guide

Wednesday, March 22, 2023

Five of the new entries were recommended in the guide while 15 were all new entries by 2022

Named for Bibendum, the Michelin-starred chef, the Bib award was established in 1997 and is given to restaurants for "good quality, good value cooking"

Will the region bring along the largest number of new Bib GOTHERMANS?

"punchy, daily changing Mediterranean small plates, accompanied by all-natural wines." - Saint Francis

The tiny plates restaurant Yr Hen's in Cardigan was the only Welsh novelty while the 13-seater Saint Francis Provisions in Kinsale was the only new restaurant in the Republic of Ireland, as far as this was concerned.

"With 20 new Bib Gourmand restaurants joining the 2023 edition of the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland, our inspectors have spotlighted establishments that stand out for their fine and generous cooking across a diverse range of styles; places that really deserve to be known by gourmets looking for their good quality, good value cooking," says Gwendal Poulleméc, international director of the Michelin Guide.

Michelin has released no list of Bib Gourmand suppressions, but this year there are 116 Bib Gourmand restaurants available on the guide, compared with 122 in the last year of which 20 were newly introduced.

The full online adverts of Bib Gourmand's 2023 restaurants will receive an update on Monday evening (March 27) after the Michelin Guide UK & Ireland 2023 Ceremony, where all the new Michelin stars, Green Stars and special prizes are announced.
