Phoebe Lawson, 15, won a national competition that aims to find the UK and Ireland's culinary talent of the new generation.
The FutureChef competition goes back to 1999 and has had nearly 200,000 competitors aged 12 to 16 enter since then, inspiring many young talented chefs.
After a final that took place in London at Westminster Kingsway College, the 15-year-old student managed to take the crown. The new FutureChef 2022 winner had to battle it out against 11 other talented young chefs from across the UK and Ireland.
Phoebe had worked with Chris MacLead, a Compass Group Chef Manager who was her mentor and helped hone her skills for the competition. The fifteen-year-old impressed the judges with incredible dishes in all rounds which included Haulkerton chicken breast infused with tarragon, stuffed with spiced haggis, and a tarragon jus with winter vegetable and butter fondant potatoes.
Big congratulations to young and successful Phoebe Lawson who competed against over 5,000 other young chefs across four stages in the competition. Thanks to this win, Phoebe will have ongoing support and development as well as apprenticeship opportunities form the Springboard charity.
Additionally, other then the FutureChef competition, the charity launched Springboard to 2022 in support of the industry's recovery after the pandemic. It contains various trainings and support for skilled young people wanting to enter the industry and get them ready for work by the end of the year.
