Pizza Hut UK's auditors have fired a warning shot about the company's future amid worries about mounting debt at the company.

The fast-food chain acknowledged that it had been hit hard by the pandemic, which has slowdown in demand for restaurants.

Pizza Hut said that Jens Hofma, chief executive of Heart With Smart Group - which runs Pizza Hut UK's franchise - is also affected by a labour shortage and increased cost pressures for households, prompting both employees to demand

pay rises.

The chain was established in the United States state of Kansas in 1958 and opened its first UK branch in Islington, north of London, in 1972.

Pizza Hut UK operates 152 store locations and employs 4.000 employees.
