Restrictions push October pub and restaurant sales back into reverse

According to the Coffer Peach Business Tracker, three quarters (83%) of the Group's own locations are open. Total turnover in the managed sector declined by 33.9% year on year.

Global sales in the whole managed sector fell by 33.9% year-on-year, a significant reduction compared to September, when sales were 20.3% below 2019 levels, and August, when sales fell only 12.2%.

Comparable sales at these companies were down 28.9 percent from the October figures of the previous year compared with a 14.7 percent drop in September.

Overall sales in administrated pubs, bars and restaurants within the M25 declined down by 39.5%, compared to 32.1% in September, with collective sales of similar products falling by 35% at these locations.

Overall sales in pubs burdened by drink fell 37.6 per cent and those of like-minded pub customers by 35.3 per cent compared to October last year.

This compares with negative 22.7 per cent and negative 21.1 per cent, respectively, in September.

The pub chains and catering outlets fared slightly better but still did significantly lower than in September, when overall sales sank 28.9% and viewing figures dropped 27.8%.
