Edinburgh Lodge emerged as a winner of the Restaurant of the Year at the Scottish Excellence Awards held last night at the Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa in Edinburgh.

Edinburgh Lodge, which opened almost five years ago, picked up the title of best restaurant in Scotland, to further celebrate chef Calum Montgomery, 33, who was born and raised in Skye.

Edinburgh was a dilapidated 16th century hunting lodge until he and his family bought it in 2017 to convert it into a four-bedroom restaurant in the year after.

Calum was another finalist for the Category Chef of the Year.

Business tycoon Dean Banks has been shortlisted for Chef of the Year, the Restaurant Newcomer category for Dulse, which was critically acclaimed in Edinburgh, and the Restaurant of the Year award, for HAAR, at St. Andrews.

The Lodge is one of just six restaurants in in Scotland to have four AA rosettes for dining excellence.
