The Alchemist will open its first Scottish bar and restaurant in the new St James District of Edinburgh next month.

With a £1.5 million investment in the new site, the building will provide "a mystical apothecary of theatre served" as well as all-day informal dining.

Clients enter the 170 square metre space through a lobby fitted with zodiac projections before heading for the fourth floor with the lift.

Opened in late October The Alchemist Team welcomes 60 new staff members who are well versed in the art of molecular mixology.

Jenny McPhee, brand director, said at the opening that Edinburgh 'From ancient alchemists to modern mystics, Edinburgh's association with alchemy spans thousands of years and the city has long been described as a hotbed for spirituality - what better place to open our first Scottish site?

Next month The Alchemist will release details of its brand partnerships exclusively for the Edinburgh location.
