The UK hospitality industry targets a net zero by 2040

The council's leadership has unveiled its "essential" programme to lead the sector to net zero by 2040.
The strategy, which was launched at a seminar in London on the 12 October, involved 10 pledges in four key areas: waste, supply chain, qualifications and biodiversity.
This initiative is part of a wider initiative to help start-Us, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to turn their hospitality into a leader in sustainable development.
"Hospitality has been swift to embrace and accelerate sustainable practices in recent years but we're entering a crucial phase in dealing with climate change, which makes our new sustainability commitment vitally important if we're to deliver on 2040 net-zero aims for the sector," said UKHospitality boss Kate Nicholls.
A guide on environmental sustainability for the hospitality sector was unveiled in a presentation by Tim Doubleday, MD, CFO for Burger King UK.
