Waitrose will make purchases to the doorstep of anyone using the online food delivery platform in just 20 minutes.

Waitrose said younger customers helped boost grocery orders as required by 40 per cent in comparison to a year earlier.

Managing director James Bailey said: 'We want more and more people to enjoy the quality and taste of Waitrose products as and when they want it.

The upscale food retailer now operates via the app Uber Eats from five of its London stores, including John Barnes, in Finchley Road, West Hampstead, Clerkenwell, St Katharine docks and Greenwich.

UberEats is already serving a range of supermarkets, including Sainsbury's, Asda, Co-op, Iceland and Morrisons.

The partnership will complement Waitrose's existing business with Deliveroo.
