UK Hospitality urges the abandonment of Late Night Levy.

UK Hospitality called for the night charge to be abolished after figures showed nightclubs, bars, restaurants and cafes accounted for 42 per cent of customer spending after 6pm.

The latest data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show there was a strong market for The Overnight Economy which employs 8.7million people.

Yet the disruption to staff in the industry and the fluctuation caused by the late-night levy ensure venues still enjoy high demand.

UK Hospitality chief executive Kate Nicholls said: 'Hospitality is the main attraction in the night-time economy, with almost half of consumer spend taking place there, but there's so much more we can do if barriers to doing business are removed.
