The news comes as the government published its National Disability Strategy, setting out their vision of how to improve daily life for disabled people.

The head of UKHospitality, Kate Nicholls, has been made a disability ambassador for the hospitality industry under the Government's £1.6billion disabilities strategy.

Speaking on the new appointment Nicholls said: "I am honoured to have been appointed as the hospitality sector's first Disability Ambassador, a role that I shall use to ensure that our sector becomes even better at accommodating customers with disabilities, as well as providing employment – there is huge potential for great jobs and careers for those with disabilities.

In partnership with VisitBritain, VisitEngland and other players involved in the tourism sector, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport will promote an emphasis on accessible tourism in the media and in business.
